I have not weighed myself in two weeks. I have until May 1st before I weigh myself again. I had been stuck at a plateau of anywhere between 144-146 for about a month and a half. What I had been doing to lose weight was no longer working for me.

I dropped out of weight watchers. I started tracking my diet closer, am lowering my carb intake, upping the GOOD carbs, upping the protein….And working out a litle bit harder.

Granted, when I had the flu the other week, I wasn’t so careful, but whatever. . .It is amazing though how soft you can get in just a few days of not working out and not watching what you’re eating (and when I’m sick my diet consists of mostly carbs, thanks to ramen noodles and 7Up).

I’m feeling good. I like the way I look. My stomach is getting flatter, there is less of a tummy pooch happening. LOVEIT.  I have less fatty areas around my middle and back…and I can’t help but admire myself in the mirror a tad. Especially when I get up in the morning. When you feel the skinniest, as you haven’t eaten yet, lol…

I’ve been drinking a good amount of water, and besides the occasional beer lately  (thanks to Bell’s and their fabulous Oberon! SPRING IS HERE!)…and maybe a glass of wine here and there (when DID I have wine last??). I’ve even gone out to eat once or twice lately with friends and NOT felt bloated afterward.  Even after Saturday night…when I drank THREE martini’s, tons of breads, fatty salads, some odd fricatta (sp? it was a bread stuffed with spinach, fennel, potatoes, italian sausage)…What a fantastic night. I’m just wondering why I didn’t end up eating my fave dessert there that night (mmm…tirimisu!). Wait….That’s right. 3 martinis – 1 cosmo, 1 gummy bear, 1 rootbeer float).

Well, I’m off to do a quick strength work out while switching back and forth between Biggest Loser and American Idol (because I like watching Matt Giraud of KALAMAZOO!! VOTE MATT GIRAUD).

Then? Yoga. Mmm….

PS: NO MORE MUFFIN TOP BABY!!! CELEBRATE!

THE IDEA…

Being the owners of smaller canine companions – physically at least – we know first-hand how something so small can have such a big impact on our lives. I’m not even going to bother asking if you could imagine a life without your pups. For that reason, it’s only natural that we as animal lovers come together to accomplish something BIG to change the lives of vulnerable animals around the world.

Over the past month, the ten contributors of WYD have connected with nearby animal shelters from Nova Scotia to South Africa; each one filled with incredible people giving abandoned animals the love and attention they deserve. So we figured, why not give each of these shelters a little love and attention of their own?

THE CHALLENGE

…collect as many donations as we possibly can by the end of April to split between these phenomenal shelters. You can donate securely using our ChipIn widget below. We will be over the moon with even the smallest contributions :)

If you aren’t able to contribute financially, there are plenty of other ways you can help spread the word that will be just as appreciated! You can even click ‘Copy’ on the donation widget to get the HTML code that you can use to include the widget in your own blog posts!

THE DIFFERENCE…

Here are the organizations that we’ll be working with over the next month. We’ll give you updates and insights into the world of animal rescue and the massive benefit that they have on the lives of millions of animals worldwide. Look forward to video diaries, messages from volunteers, amazing adoption stories and lots of prizes!
