shopping therapy…

March 7th, 2009 | Shopping

I’ll get more into my trip with Dan up to Traverse City late this week, but right now? I’d like to talk about the crappy economy and how it sucks that I can’t buy whatever dress I feel like buying at a moments notice. Lol….I found an amazing dress yesterday at a shop in Traverse City called Ella’s Vintage Clothing. AMAZING dress. I can’t find it on their website but it is made by Stop Staring. Dan said it looked like I was off to go see greet my man who had just come back from war (circa 1940’s). It was perfect! And my curvy self made it that much better.  It was very similar to this dress, but it was beige with some navy blue accents:

vintage-dressSuper cute. Super sexy. Curve hugging goodness. Anyway…My main thing was that I’ve been looking for dresses to wear at my bridal shower (or showers).  But I also just wanted a fab dress. The thing is…I wasn’t sure I would feel comfortable walking around in a dress that style. Not to mention that the dress was just short of $200. Sigh….Not going to happen. Not with this economy…

I did, however, talk Dan into letting me purchase a clearance dress from JCrew this morning. His mom helped me on that one. Convincing him it was a style that could be worn for years to come.  He can’t say no… Lol…He really has issues saying no to me. SUPER bad! :D

Anyway….got this one for the grand total of $80:

dressHe’s such a sucker. ;) Ah, I kid, I kid. But seriously, I must stop conning him…Lol….Ok…

I’m now making a pact: NO SHOPPING. Seriously. Whoorl did it, did she not? Took a sabatical from shopping? I have in the last week, bought my summer wardrobe (I only spent a few hundred dollars — very cheap).  Plus this dress and a bit of lingerie (well, panties…I needed a raceback bra, but I ordered those bra strap convertor deals that would help me just change the nice bras I currently have into that style for me). I did well. And now I need NOTHING for the spring/summer seasons. NOTHING.

SO…There is absolutely NO REASON for shopping. NO MORE ITEMS I DO NOT NEED.

I love to shop so it’s going to be tough, but I may have to do what Whoorl did…post on some days what I did NOT buy even though I wanted to.

Shoot, in a couple of months (well, less than), I’m going to have books to buy for my summer semesters. MUST BE MORE CAREFUL WITH MONEY.

xo.
